Our Class
On Tuesday, October 4th, we visited the JH Children's Museum to learn about engineering and design. First, we tested different materials to find out what were the most absorbent, least absorbent, strongest, and most flexible. Then, we used that information to create a house that would withstand either snow, wind, rain, or an earthquake.
Then, on Friday, we went to the Animal Adoption Center and learned how the center supports
the animals in our community. After we returned to school we brainstormed ways that we could
help volunteer there.
On Thursday, October 12th, we visited the JH Historical Society where we learned about Jackson Hole in the early 1900's. We built log cabins, saw inside an old-time cabin, and saw how the settlers - even kids - prepared food, did daily housekeeping tasks, and made furniture. To end our visit, we each created a square for a class quilt showing what we enjoyed the most!
On Thursday, December 22nd, we celebrated our diverse ancestory with a holiday luncheon. We had many amazing dishes native to our ancestry, including sticky rice with beef, sausage rolls, lefse, Hungarian cheese dip, tornado potatoes, ponche de frutas, latkes, chicken mole, african tea, flan, belgian waffles, and candied grapefruit.
